In getting ready to write my 2021 Year in Review, I realized that I never posted a 2020 Year in Review.

Maybe that's because 2020 felt like a gap year for everybody – and many things just didn't happen.

Well, that gives me a better chance to take a look at both years and compare how they've shaken out for family board game playing time.

"Back in the Game"

That was the bold statement on the winning t-shirt design for SaltCon End of Summer 2021. And it couldn't have been more appropriate!

It was awesome to be back at SaltCon this past weekend playing game after game for a couple of days straight.

SaltCon is the big board game convention in Utah, USA and it's packed with gaming goodness. The event is typically held for 4 days in March each year, so I was sad when it was announced last Fall that the March event would be canceled. But, the news a few months ago that they'd hold an "End of Summer" SaltCon for 3 days at the end of July got me excited again.

Let's dive in!

2019 marked a huge milestone for The Board Game Family. We celebrated 10 years of doing family board game reviews!

With our video reviews hitting 2 million views and our written reviews and articles being read by millions more, it's been an amazing 10 years.

But today's not about looking back on all 10 years (we've already done that). Instead, we're just looking back at 2019.

As I've done at the start of each year, let's take a quick look back at the games we've enjoyed the most from 2019.

33 games we’ll still be playing in 9 years https://www.theboardgamefamily.com/2018/08/33-games-well-still-be-playing-in-9-years/ https://www.theboardgamefamily.com/2018/08/33-games-well-still-be-playing-in-9-years/#comments Wed, 15 Aug 2018 19:51:43 +0000 http://www.theboardgamefamily.com/?p=30269 The Board Game Family

We’ve reviewed over 400 games, written over 350 other game and family-related articles, and our video reviews have close to 1.8 million views!

I’ve been reflecting about the games we’ve played the most over the past 9 years and trying to predict the games we’ll still be playing 9 years from now.

It’s interesting to think about. Because in 9 years, all our kids will be out of the house and we’ll most likely have grandkids in the mix (woah, that’s weird to think about). That means more 2-player and lighter games hitting the table for my wife and I. And it also means pulling out younger kid games again for grandkids. But I’ll also still have game nights with my boys, so games they love to play make the list as well.

So which games will we still be playing with regularity in 2027?
